CHARACTER ANALYSIS
Ponyboy Curtis is the main character in the book. He is a very nice fourteen year old and is the youngest of the Greasers. He lives with his two older brothers Darry and Sodapop. Darry is the oldest of them all and is twenty years old. Darry quit school and has two jobs to keep the family together because their parents died in a car accident. Sodapop r is the middle child that is very helpful to Ponyboy and is always there for him! I chose Ponyboy because he is a really interesting character in the story and is a very good character too. He is also a very good Greaser that is about to become a Soc.
To begin with, Ponyboy is reveled at the beginning of the story by being attacked by the Socs on his way home from a movie. Ponyboy is being threatened by the Socs to slit his throat. Ponyboy gets away with having a group of greasers come and chase the Socs away. Ponyboy goes to the movies because he wants to sit behind some attractive Soc girls. His characterize in this part shows that he is a ladies man and is always on the lookout for girls.
Next, Ponyboy changes throughout the novel by having to fight the Socs, falling behind in classes, and having the death of Johnny. He has been very overwhelmed with the death of Johnny so he passes out and wakes up in bed In the morning feeling sick so he stays in bed for a few days. Ponyboys emotions and characterize in the story changes from being a great child and having a great life to going through tough situations with fighting the Socs and of Johnny's death. He also changes to failing classes and he has been fighting with his older brother Darry.
Later, Ponyboy is starting to catch up on his grades and has promised Darry to stop fighting with him and to promise to get along with him to keep their family together. He has been doing good on his catching up in school and writing his English essay. His characterize is different from the middle of the story because he is not depressed anymore when he thinks of Johnny's and Dally's death. He stays strong and works through everything.
Finally, throughout the book you can see that Ponyboy has gone through tough situations with the loss of his parents, Johnny and Dally's death and falling behind in school. We should see today that when people are not doing well we should be there to help them out. Ponyboy has been through a lot in the story so we should learn today to be nice to others and to stop fighting when you know they are going through difficult times.
PERSUASIVE ESSAY
Do you ever wonder why you are not getting enough sleep? That is because school starts way too early for most of us. Do you think school should start later? School should start later because we need to make sure we get enough sleep so our brains are awake and ready to learn in the morning. Most of us are not early birds and are able to wake up at 5:00 or even 6:00. We like to be able to sleep until at least 7:00 or even 8:00 at the latest so that means school should not start until 8:30 or 9:00. Part of doing good in school is to being able to get enough sleep and being able to do the things in the morning you should be doing like eating breakfast!
To begin with, everyone needs a good health breakfast to start out their day in a good way! Most of us would rather get sleep though and still have to wake up early with not having enough time to eat breakfast. Part of students having a low grade could be the matter of having to wake up early to go to school and learn.
Next, We understand that you need to have a certain amount of hours of school but you can always extend it longer. If we voted most people would probably vote starting school later and ending later then starting school early and ending earlier. A lot of people are not in a rush after school to get somewhere like a sport because they would not start that early knowing some schools do go until 3:30 or so. Most schools have the elementary school start later and end later but if you think about it the older students should be getting more sleep because all of the younger students like waking up early and are excited for school compared to the lazy, unhappy, tired teenagers that have to wake up so much earlier.
Now, the people who make these changes will see that it was a great idea and that they should have done this sooner but most of the students would me so much happier going to school thinking that they wont be tired because they got enough sleep after getting to start school later!
Finally, as you can see many people would agree with starting school later and I very strongly agree to this as well. It is just really hard for many students to have to wake up so early. If this change were to happen we would have so many better students in school because they wont be as tired in the morning and most of them are excited to learn knowing that they got enough sleep!
